Nine Stradling Attorneys Recognized in 2016 Super Lawyers Lists

Super Lawyers only recognizes 5% of attorneys in each state. Those named to the lists received the highest marks from their peers, which were validated through independent research. The following Stradling attorneys were recognized this year. 

Jason de Bretteville is the chair of Stradling's white collar, enforcement defense and investigations practice. He focuses on matters involving white collar defense, enforcement, complex business litigation, and securities litigation. He represents companies, financial institutions and senior executives in major criminal and civil enforcement proceedings brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"), Department of Justice ("DOJ"), Commodity Futures Trading Commission ("CFTC"), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC"). 

Paul R. Glassman is the head of Stradling's bankruptcy and restructuring practice. His areas of expertise include: Corporate reorganization, restructuring, workouts, bankruptcy, foreclosures, financings, distressed M&A, and related litigation. He represents debtors, creditors, committees and members of committees, bank groups, municipalities, private-equity funds, and landlords in bankruptcy courts throughout the country, including in California, Delaware, New York, and Chicago. Richard Goodman is a business trial lawyer with dozens of jury and bench trials in matters involving contracts, shareholder and management issues, trade secrets and unfair competition, intellectual property, fiduciary duties, real estate, and various business torts. A member of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, he's also the recipient of the Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award, as well as the Judge Learned Hand Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented to outstanding leaders of the legal profession. 

Steven Hanle is the chair of Stradling's intellectual property practice. His expertise includes patent infringement litigation and other intellectual property litigation. He's represented both patent owners and accused infringers in a broad variety of technologies, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, computer hardware and software, electrical, telecommunications, optical, and mechanical. He has substantial trial experience and has briefed and argued before the Federal Circuit, 9th Circuit and California Court of Appeals. 

Christopher Ivey is the co-chair of Stradling's corporate and securities law practice. Having practiced corporate and securities law for over 20 years, he specializes in public and private mergers and acquisitions, transactional matters for emerging growth companies, venture capital financings, commercial finance, public offerings, private equity, corporate governance and regulation under the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). He represents clients throughout their life cycle, from the early-stage through exit, assisting in transactions to facilitate growth and liquidity as well as general counseling. Mr. Ivey is highly regarded by his clients for his practical approach to the practice of law and business acumen. 

Karla Kraft is a well-recognized and highly regarded business litigation attorney. She represents corporations of all sizes, banking institutions, the Judicial Council, and other organizations in a broad range of commercial litigation matters. Those include class action defense; corporate, shareholder, and partner disputes; real estate litigation; trade secrets; unfair competition; and employment disputes. She regularly lectures for California's Continuing Education of the Bar ("CEB") and other legal organizations, and serves on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Additionally, she is being recognized in the Super Lawyers Women's Edition. 

James D. Richman is the chair of Stradling's real estate practice. This is the 11th consecutive year that he has been recognized by Super Lawyers. He is widely known in the business community for negotiating a variety of real estate deals over an expansive 30-year career. He specializes in joint ventures, acquisitions, sales and exchanges, commercial leasing, construction and design, construction, permanent and mezzanine finance and development. 

Marc J. Schneider is also being recognized as a Top 50 attorney in Orange County. A highly respected complex business and securities litigation attorney, he also serves as Stradling's General Counsel. His substantial securities litigation experience includes shareholder class actions, derivative suits, merger and acquisition litigation, government investigations, and internal investigations. He also has special expertise in antitrust, false claims act, and data breach matters. A recipient of the prestigious Marcus J. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award in 2015, he has also been recognized with the Daniel Ginsberg Leadership Award, a national award given by the ADL to leaders in the fight against discrimination and hate. 

Mark L. Skaist is the co-chair of Stradling's corporate and securities law practice and is a member of the firm's executive committee. His practice focuses on public and private securities offerings, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions and general corporate representation (including technology licensing and development and distribution transactions). He also works with private equity funds in acquisition transactions and fund formation and advises clients on matters involving corporate governance and employee compensation.
