Sean Thomas Lobb

Sean Thomas Lobb is a former federal judicial law clerk and an experienced litigator who has successfully litigated numerous cases in state and federal courts across the country. Sean represents Fortune 500 companies and executives as counsel in their most challenging and high-stakes cases and investigations. Sean’s practice focuses on complex business litigation, white collar criminal defense work, and civil and criminal investigations. He advises on all aspects and at all stages of the dispute process, from pre-litigation investigation and post-complaint discovery through trial and appeal.

Before joining Stradling, Sean was an associate at the world’s largest law firm, 大成 Dentons. Before entering private practice, Sean clerked for two federal judges in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Andrew J. Guilford and the Honorable John D. Early.

Sean is actively involved in the Orange County community. He serves as a member on the Board of Directors for the Santa Ana Zoo, and he previously served on the Board for the Orange County Bar Association. He regularly assists with pro bono work at the Federal Pro Se Clinic for the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and he also serves as the YLD Liaison to the Board of Directors for the Federal Bar Association of Orange County.

Sean earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. While in law school, Sean clerked in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California and in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. Sean also clerked in the Organized Crime and Gang Section of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and he worked in the International Justice Clinic under the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression.

Experience

Secured a dismissal with prejudice on behalf of Playtika (NAS: PLTK), a publicly traded technology company that develops mobile games, in a shareholder class action. The shareholder plaintiff contended that, on a call with securities analysts and investors, the company revealed previously undisclosed infrastructure changes to its two most successful games, Slotomania and Bingo Blitz. The shareholder plaintiff alleged those infrastructure changes diverted resources and interrupted the introduction of new content, resulting in a stock drop of 23%. In granting our initial motion to dismiss with prejudice, U.S. District Judge Rachel Kovner stated that that “the investors' suit fails to plausibly allege that disclosure of the infrastructure upgrades was necessary.” Playtika "adequately warned the reasonable investor of the allegedly omitted risks.”  
Currently representing a financial services company in a putative class action lawsuit involving the company’s payment processing service. The company is alleged to have operated its payment processing service in violation of California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1750) and Unfair Competition Law (CA Bus. & Prof. Code § 17200 et seq.).
Secured a rare voluntary dismissal on behalf of the former CEO of an Irvine based bioscience company a month before trial in a health care fraud case. Stradling represented the lead defendant in a nine defendant white collar criminal defense case where the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California alleged a $45 million Medicare fraud conspiracy.
