Jaye Heybl is a Partner in Stradling’s Intellectual Property practice group.

Jaye is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)  and focuses on patent and trademark prosecution and litigation in federal and state courts, as well as before the USPTO. He has prosecuted patents in a variety of technologies including semiconductors, electronics, communications and computer related technologies, as well as mechanical matters.

Prior to joining Stradling, Jaye was a partner at Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP in Westlake Village. Jaye was also managing partner at Koppel IP where he worked in intellectual property law for more than 20 years. Before his career in intellectual property law, Jaye worked for a litigation law firm where it gained significant trial and appellate experience. 

Jaye earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from U.C. Santa Barbara and his law degree from California Western School of Law. Following his undergraduate studies, Jaye worked as a project engineer with General Motors Corporation, where he was involved in both the hardware and software aspects of system design in avionics and automotive computer systems. These included avionics computer systems on the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the C-17 Globemaster, and automotive computer systems on the Cadillac fleet of vehicles.  

Jaye is a member of the California Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Section of the California Bar Association, the Technology and Business section of the Santa Barbara Bar Association and the Science and Engineering Council of Santa Barbara.
