Los Angeles, CA – Veteran employment litigator Arthur Silbergeld has joined Stradling as a shareholder in the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. Mr. Silbergeld will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. He comes to the firm from Thompson Coburn LLP where he was a partner.

“Art brings more than 35 years of experience defending companies against class action and labor rights lawsuits. He is an outstanding litigator and has a stellar reputation as one of the top attorneys in his field,” says Jason de Bretteville, chair of Stradling’s Litigation Department.  “We are very pleased to welcome him to the firm.”

Mr. Silbergeld’s practice focuses on representing large and mid-sized corporations in employment litigation and labor relations matters. He has defended numerous employers in federal and state court in litigation, arbitration and mediations involving complex claims of misclassification, overtime, meal period, discrimination, disability, harassment, wrongful termination, OSHA, whistleblower, Sarbanes-Oxley, and trade secret violations throughout California and other states. He is one of the few California attorneys to have defended several wage class actions through trial.

As a former trial attorney with the NLRB, Mr. Silbergeld also represents employers in labor relations, including organizing campaigns, bargaining negotiations, strikes, picketing, boycotts, labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings, Section 301 litigation, and multi-employer trust fund matters.

Mr. Silbergeld has written and spoken extensively about best employment practices to follow to avoid costly litigation, and works with clients almost daily on how to resolve complex personnel issues in compliance with  federal and California laws.  He is the author of "Doing Business in California: An Employment Law Handbook" and "Complying With the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act and the California Pregnancy Disability Leave Law."  He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2011-2022 (by BL rankings) and "Southern California SuperLawyers," (2006-2020 by Thompson Reuters).  Several times in the last decade, the Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Francisco Recorder identified him in their annual edition of  "The Top 75 Employment Lawyers in California".
