Austin, Texas – June 2, 2021 – Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth LLP announced today that it is bolstering its national Intellectual Property practice with a full time office in Texas and the addition of seasoned IP litigator Bill Parrish, who has been based in Austin for over 30 years. Parrish has over 40 years of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in IP cases throughout Texas and other parts of the country. Parrish was named Austin’s “Lawyer of the Year” for Patent Litigation in the 2020 edition of Best Lawyers®.

“We have been watching the increasing number of patent cases filed in the Western District and this is the perfect opportunity to better serve our clients by opening an office there,” says Steve Hanle who chairs Stradling’s Intellectual Property Practice. “And bringing on a senior trial pro like Bill, who has an excellent reputation and knows the local judges and lawyers, is a great value addition for our clients and colleagues who need Texas counsel.”

For multiple years, Parrish has been listed in The Best Lawyers In America® for Bet-the-Company Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation, Patent Litigation, and Commercial Litigation. He has been given an “AV® Preeminent™” rating multiple years in the Martindale Hubble Judicial Edition, which reflects the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards based upon confidential opinions of members of the Judiciary as well as members of the Bar.

Parrish’s clients have ranged from individuals and startups to Fortune 100 companies. Although his practice has involved a wide spectrum of complex commercial cases, the emphasis has been on intellectual property disputes, including patent, trade secret, trademark, trade name, trade dress, and copyright disputes, as well as business torts and breach of contract claims. In addition to litigating cases, Parrish puts that experience to use as a neutral mediator in IP and other complex commercial cases.

Parrish said: “I’ve worked with Stradling on patent cases in California, Delaware and Texas over the years, so I know the quality of the firm’s lawyers and the strength of their IP practice. I know that their entrepreneurial, dedicated, and client-focused approach to litigation is the right fit for my clients and my practice.”

While Hanle and a number of Stradling’s other patent litigators are already admitted to practice in Texas federal courts, Matt Stephens from Stradling’s Newport Beach office will be joining Parrish in the Stradling Austin office full time. Stephens, who was formerly a judicial law clerk for a federal judge, has seven years of patent litigation experience across a variety of technologies. Stradling is a firm of over 100 attorneys with multiple offices in California, as well as offices in Colorado, Nevada, Washington and now Texas. Stradling is known for its representation of high growth and technology businesses.
